What is Baclofen ?

Baclofen is a centrally acting muscle relaxant commonly prescribed to alleviate spasticity in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological disorders. It functions by activating GABA-B receptors, which inhibit the excitatory neurotransmitters that cause muscle spasm, thereby reducing muscle stiffness and improving mobility.

Baclofen is a medication used as a muscle relaxant in people with spinal cord injuries or some neurologic disorders. Baclofen is a central nervous system depressant. Baclofen is a generic medication also sold under the brand names Kemstro, Gablofen, and Lioresal. Baclofen was first synthesized in 1962. Baclofen use is fairly common in the treatment of muscle spasticity in some neurologic disorders.
