What is Clonidine Hcl (Analgesia)?
Clonidine HCl is a centrally acting alpha-agonist hypotensive agent that is also used off-label for its analgesic properties. It works by modulating pain signals through pre- and post-synaptic α2-adrenergic receptors in the central nervous system, potentially reducing the perception of pain. - Trouble breathing or chest pain
- Severe stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney or heart disease.
- This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or do anything that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely.
- Fast or slow heartbeat
- Lightheadedness or fainting
