What is Mavyret?
Mavyret (glecaprevir and pibrentasvir) is a prescription medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults and children over the age of 3 years. It targets multiple HCV genotypes and is typically administered as a once-daily oral tablet, with a treatment regimen that can range from 8 to 16 weeks depending on the patient's specific viral genotype and liver disease status. Mavyret acts by inhibiting the proteins needed by the HCV to multiply, thereby clearing the virus from the body.Side Effects
- Dark urine, pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Warnings
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease or other liver disease (including hepatitis B). Tell your doctor if you are having a kidney or liver transplant.
- Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
