What is Sensipar?
Cinacalcet HCl is a calcimimetic agent that acts by enhancing the sensitivity of the calcium-sensing receptors on the parathyroid gland, thereby reducing parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. It is primarily used in the management of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis, as well as for the treatment of hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma. By lowering PTH and serum calcium levels, Cinacalcet helps mitigate the complications associated with elevated calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood.Side Effects

Warnings
- Cinacalcet HCl can significantly lower calcium levels; monitor calcium levels regularly.
- May increase the risk of low blood pressure; caution is advised for patients with hypotension.

- Caution should be exercised when used in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Potential for allergic reactions, including rash and anaphylaxis; discontinue use if serious hypersensitivity occurs.
