¿Qué es Clobazam?
Clobazam es un medicamento de la clase de las benzodiazepinas que se prescribe típicamente para el manejo de la ansiedad y para controlar las convulsiones, particularmente en condiciones como el síndrome de Lennox-Gastaut. Funciona potenciando la actividad de los neurotransmisores en el cerebro para producir un efecto calmante, ayudando a reducir la frecuencia e intensidad de las convulsiones y aliviar los síntomas de la ansiedad. Clobazam está diseñado para uso a corto plazo debido al riesgo de dependencia con el uso a largo plazo.Side Effects
- Extreme tiredness or weakness, slow heartbeat, trouble breathing
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blistering, peeling, red skin rash
Warnings
- Birth control pills may not work as well when used with this medicine. Use a second form of birth control to keep from getting pregnant and for 28 days after your last dose.
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will need to slowly decrease your dose before you stop it completely. Your seizures may return or occur more often if you stop using this medicine suddenly.
- This medicine can increase thoughts of suicide. Tell your doctor right away if you start to feel depressed and have thoughts about hurting yourself.
- This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
