Cold sore treatment online

Feel the tingle? Start treatment early.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and tend to come back in the same spot. Prescription antivirals work best when you start them at the very first tingle, so a fast online visit can make a real difference in how long an outbreak lasts.

Cold sores questions

How fast does valacyclovir work on cold sores?

It works best started within the first day, ideally at the first tingle. Started early it can shorten an outbreak by a day or two, and sometimes stops blisters from forming.

Can I get a prescription to keep on hand?

Many providers will prescribe an antiviral to keep at home so you can start it at the first sign of the next outbreak. The provider decides what is appropriate for you.

Are cold sores contagious?

Yes, most of all when blisters are open. Avoid kissing and sharing cups, utensils or lip balm until the sore has fully healed.

How much does an online visit cost?

A flat $99 for the visit, self-pay, no insurance needed. Medication is paid separately at your pharmacy, where a free Rx.com coupon or your insurance can lower the price.

Will I definitely get a prescription?

No. The provider prescribes only when it is medically appropriate. Sometimes the right plan is OTC treatment or rest, and the provider will tell you if you need to be seen in person.
